I am so excited about the opportunity to go to the Influence Conference this year. I have never attended a bloggish conference, and I haven’t attended a women’s conference since back in the day when I needed to worry about who was going to watch the kids while I escaped for a weekend.
Blake, my youngest, is 17; so, the babysitter thing isn’t really an issue. Neither is the worry thing. Andy, Katie, and Blake are great kids. (Can I still call a 21 and a 20-year-old kids?) John is probably the one I need to worry about; you never know what mischief my man might be up to. 😉
I refer to the Influence Conference as a “bloggish” women’s conference because it’s not just about blogging. The Influence Conference is about much, much more. It’s about, well, influence:
We believe that God has given you influence right where you are, for one purpose: to make much of Him. At Influence we’re going to dig into the common thread of all of us – the Good News. We plan on doing a little teaching, talking, sharing, and celebrating concerning the ways He might want to use you on the individual platforms He’s given. ~Influence Conference
My platform extends well beyond my blog, and I look forward to discovering more about how to leverage it for God’s glory. I am also really, really, really looking forward to meeting some of the women I interact with online in real life.
Who are the women at Influence?
Hop on over to today’s pre-conference meet and greet link-up and take a peek. That’s what I will be doing.
The only thing I do have to worry about is what to pack. Just the other day I learned that business cards would be a good thing to bring. I had no idea bloggers made business cards!
I suppose I should also bring a journal and something to write with. I hope I come home with so many ideas and words of encouragement that it takes me months to filter through them all.
Aside from that, I will come ready with my smiling face and an open heart. (I think I’ll leave my tiger friend behind, though. He might be a little intimidating!)
