Last week John and I went on a Niagara Falls getaway. Getting away for a few days was delightful. I had never been outside of the country; so, even though the United States was always in view, it was a wonderful treat. We had a luxurious hotel room that overlooked the falls, and I took my first bare foot vacation picture.
As soon as we checked in we walked across Rainbow Bridge to spend the afternoon at Niagara Falls Park. Customs asked how long we had been in Canada. They looked at us skeptically when we said, “About an hour.” We ate dinner at two exquisite restaurants and took a tour of all the Canadian sites.
John enjoyed going to the base of the American Falls. He got soaking wet. I loved going to the base of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. The power of the falls overwhelmed me. I considered that the power of the falls is nothing compared to the power of God. I told John it was so beautiful I could cry. He begged me not to cry!

John and I agreed the best part of the trip was getting to spend time together. In fifteen years of marriage we have never gone anywhere without the kids. We will definitely do things like this more often. The kids survived. It tickled me when Andy told me he missed us. He informed me he had never stayed at home while mom and dad went away.
